DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION

The Burgettstown Area School District seeks a qualified candidate to serve as its next Supervisor of Special Education.  Located in close proximity to Pittsburgh, the BASD has a special education population of 22.4% of its total enrollment. Available in December, 2024, this 12 month Act 93 position is responsible for promoting best practices in Special Education within a K-12 setting. The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge base and experience with writing, reviewing, and implementing all facets of Individual Education Plans across K-12.   Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Details of Position:

• Time:  4-Hour Day Shift*
• Start Date: Immediate
• Must pass a General Maintenance Exam

  *  Primarily day shift, depending upon district needs

Requirements:

• Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license
• Experience is preferred the following:
  • Heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical (all phases), refrigeration, boilers, air conditioning, general maintenance, and mechanical ability

If you have a Bachelor's degree or higher, you can work as a day-to-day substitute teacher in Pennsylvania schools.  We offer paid training designed to help you take advantage of this opportunity. The rate of pay is $105/day.

NOTE: All PA Certified substitute teachers are required by PA Act 48 of 2005 to have earned 180 continuing education credits every 5 years after certification.  Teachers without the required hours are only permitted to work 90 days as a substitute teacher.

Bus Driver

Substitute bus drivers are needed to transport students to and from school. Drivers with a CDL with S endorsement are desired. Must have clean driving record. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Custodian

Burgettstown Area School District is looking to hire substitute custodians. Individuals must have a strong work ethic and be able to work well in an educational environment.
