Payroll Specialist

The Burgettstown Area School District, located in Washington County, PA, seeks a qualified Payroll Specialist to join the District’s Business Office. This full-time, confidential position reports directly to the Business Manager.

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll in an accurate and timely manner and maintaining payroll records in compliance with district policies, contracts, and applicable regulations. Duties include calculating wages and deductions, preparing payroll reports, coordinating benefits and retirement reporting (PSERS), reconciling payroll accounts, and assisting with audits. The position requires strict confidentiality and attention to detail.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Experience in payroll, accounting, or school business office operations preferred
• Strong organizational, mathematical, and computer skills

The Burgettstown Area School District is seeking a dedicated and innovative Elementary Business Education Teacher to join our instructional team. This full-time position serves students in grades K–5 and focuses on developing essential life, career, financial, and technology skills that prepare students for future academic and personal success.

The successful candidate will provide engaging, hands-on instruction in keyboarding, digital literacy, coding, personal finance, internet safety, and career awareness while supporting the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards. Students will develop age-appropriate financial literacy skills—including earning, saving, spending, budgeting, and making informed financial decisions—while also building the technology and problem-solving skills needed for success in an increasingly digital world.

The ideal candidate will foster creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and responsible digital citizenship through standards-aligned, engaging learning experiences while collaborating with colleagues, support staff, and families to promote academic achievement and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

·       Plan and deliver engaging instruction in keyboarding, digital literacy, coding, personal finance, internet safety, and career awareness for students in grades K–5.

·       Teach age-appropriate financial literacy concepts, including earning, saving, spending, budgeting, goal setting, and responsible decision-making.

·       Implement instruction aligned with the Pennsylvania Career Education and Work Standards and other applicable Pennsylvania Academic Standards.

·       Develop engaging lessons that promote computational thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.

·       Teach responsible digital citizenship and safe, ethical technology use.

·       Integrate instructional technology and innovative teaching practices into daily instruction.

·       Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and guide instructional decisions.

·       Differentiate instruction to meet the academic and developmental needs of all learners.

·       Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to support student success.

·       Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and collaborative planning.

Qualifications

·       Business, Computer and Information Technology PK-12 (or other appropriate Pennsylvania Department of Education certification for the assignment)

·       Elementary teaching experience preferred.

·       Experience integrating instructional technology into the elementary classroom preferred.

 

·       Must possess valid clearances.

ANTICIPATED SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS

Description

The Burgettstown Area School District anticipates the need for dedicated and passionate Special Education Teachers to join our team. These are full-time position with assignments to be determined.  The successful candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IEPs that address the individual needs of students receiving emotional support and learning support services.
• Provide direct instruction and support in small group and one-on-one settings.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies to promote a productive and supportive classroom atmosphere.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification in Special Education (PK-12 or equivalent).
• Experience working with students with emotional and learning disabilities preferred.

Preferred Skills:

·  Experience working with students in Emotional Support and Learning Support settings.

·  Proficiency in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

·  Knowledge of positive behavior intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques.

·  Familiarity with progress monitoring tools and data-driven decision-making.

·  Strong understanding of special education laws and compliance requirements (IDEA, Section 504, etc.)

School Bus Driver

The Burgettstown Area School District is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to join our transportation team. This is a vital role responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transport of students to and from school and school-related activities.

Position Type: Part-Time, Split Shift
Location: Burgettstown, PA
Start Date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate a school bus on a designated route and schedule

• Ensure the safety of all passengers during transport

• Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and maintain cleanliness

• Follow all traffic laws, district policies, and state regulations

• Report any incidents, disciplinary issues, or mechanical concerns promptly

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Pennsylvania CDL with S and P endorsements (or willingness to obtain)

• Clean driving record and background check

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Ability to pass a physical exam and drug screening

• Patience, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills

• Must possess current clearances, including Act 34 (Criminal History), Act 151 (Child Abuse), and FBI Fingerprint Clearance
