• Welcome to Music at B.A.E.C!

    Teacher: Mrs. Heidi Betschart (Adomshick)

    "Music IS for a lifetime."

Thought for the week: "Music is the soundtrack of our lives," a quote from the late, great, Dick Clark. It truly IS for a lifetime, and over the course of a life, we build our own soundtracks. These days, they would be called playlists. What would be on your life's playlist? Which songs define who you are? Our third, fourth and fifth grade students are currently learning how to write their own songs, starting with rhythm blocks. The next hit-song writer could be in our midst here at B.A.E.C.!

    Important Announcements/Events:

With all the research that occurred over the past year regarding aerosols (water drops in the air we breathe out), masks, instruments, and players, we have changed how we do instrumental music lessons a little. Currently enrolled elementary instrument students have been invited to join the Google Classroom for "Band". Please check your student's school email for the invitation and the link for scheduling can be found in the "Classwork" section of the "Band" Google Classroom. The schedule is not posted to the "Band" Google Classroom yet, but when we have the details finalized, your student will see it and be able to schedule his/her lesson. Thank you for your patience with this.

ENROLLING FOR LESSONS - NEW Students

If your student in grades 4 or 5 is interested in playing an instrument but has NOT had a try-out, please e-mail me! Due to our current situation and the need to sanitize an entire instrument between try-outs, Volkwein's Music in Robinson is handling the bulk of our brass and woodwind try-outs. I am only able to try-out guitar, ukulele, piano and percussion.

For the parents...a brief summary of how our lesson program works...

There is minimal cost for a lesson book and supplies, depending on the instrument. Instrument rentals are handled through Volkwein’s Music in Robinson. Guitar, bass, ukulele, and piano instruments are best purchased through Guitar Center in Robinson or with my recommendations on Amazon.

What we teach in the BAEC instrumental music program:

Woodwind Instruments - Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone

Brass Instruments - Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Baritone/Euphonium

Percussion (snare, bass, set, mallets, accessories)

Modern Band - Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Piano

If you're interested in venturing out to see local performances, some places have new attendance procedures and policies. I have become a fan of the virtual concert over the past year. I encourage you to take the time with your students and explore some of our awesome virtual music venues and events! Facebook Live and YouTube are still the two most common places to see performances right now.
