Each year as principal, I select a theme for our students to learn about at B.A.E.C., and this year, the students are learning about Alaska!Melissa M. MankeyMrs. Melissa Mankey is entering her twenty-fifth year of employment with the Burgettstown Area School District. She has served as an elementary principal for the last eleven years with fourteen years total in administration. Prior to her leadership role as principal, she served as the assistant principal under the direction of Mr. James Piccirillo for three years.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and graduated Magna Cum Laude. To further her education, Mrs. Mankey earned a Master’s degree in Education, a K-12 Principal’s certification, and a Curriculum Specialist certification from the University of Pittsburgh graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
From the time Mrs. Mankey was hired, she always seized opportunities that furthered her education, challenged her professionally, and contributed to her students’ academic successes. Within the Burgettstown Area School District, she held the following positions prior to becoming an administrator at the elementary center:

Mrs. Mankey, a 1987 graduate of the Burgettstown Area Junior-Senior High School, has had a rewarding career in the field of education within the District and hopes to continue to enrich the lives of students for many years to come at the elementary center!
