Hello and thank you for visiting my site! I'm excited to welcome everyone back to school for the 2020-2021 school year. This is my seventeenth year teaching in the Language Arts Department at Burgettstown and I'm looking forward to an excellent experience with all of my classes.
Outside of the classroom, I serve as the sponsor for the National Honor Society and Media club.
I travel daily to Burgettstown from the Beechview area of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Altoona Area High School in 1993, I moved to attend The University of Pittsburgh and knew that I would never leave this great city. While at Pitt, I earned Bachelors Degrees in English Literature and Media Communications and was active in the campus community as writer and editor for The Pitt News.
Upon graduating from Pitt in 1998, I began my professional career in technology recruitment while working as a freelance journalist. After receiving an opportunity to teach courses in professional development and resume writing at local universities and vocational schools, my passion for teaching was reignited.
Following a perfectly-timed layoff from the corporate world, I immediately enrolled in the Masters of Education Program at Duquesne University. While attending Duquense, I taught World Cultures at Taylor Allderdice High School and multiple Language Arts courses at Fox Chapel High School.
After completing my Masters Degree in Secondary Education and Pennsylvania State Certifications in Language Arts and Social Studies, the teaching job search led me to Burgettstown.
You can find me in Rooms 134 and 136.
