Welcome parents/guardians and students!
I am Mrs. Riggans and your student(s) may have me for Biology, Environmental and Ecology, and/or Anatomy and PhysiologyAbout me: I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from Waynesburg College in 2002. I then returned to Waynesburg College to earn my Master of Art in Teaching degree in 2006 in order to become a classroom teacher. In 2007, I was hired at Burgettstown High School and have been teaching here for 17 years.Classroom Information: Through the span of my courses, students will learn a variety of information. Environment and Ecology focuses on the environment and the effects humans have on Earth. We discuss the potential long term effects of how our daily living can change the environment. In Biology, we focus on cells, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and genetics. In Anatomy and Physiology, we discuss how the body systems work and interconnect.Online Resources: I post a weekly document pertaining to classroom assignments and any announcements that have been made in class. This ensures students can reference any materials they may have missed due to absences or school activities. Alma is the best reference to keep up to date on your students' grades.Connect with me: I encourage open communication between myself and my students. I feel if my students and I connect, we are able to problem-solve any isuses that may arise. I value collaboration with parents/guardians to determine ways to motivate and help students succeed. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone for any questions or concerns.Mrs. Tatia Riggans - triggans@burgettstown.k12.pa.us - 724-947-8100 (x5218)
