**All students: We will be using Google Classroom for class communication and assignmets. Check your school emails for invitations.Music is an intelligence that is hardwired into every human brain. Music is more than just listening to the radio in the car, or simply background noise for social events. Music is conscious, academic and creative. Moreover, school music groups are the cultural connection between school and community. Did you know that students who study music, on average, achieve higher standardized test scores (such as the SAT and PSSA) than students who do not study music? Music is defined by federal law as a core subject, and for good reason. Students will engage with music from various perspectives. They will perform and create music, as well as analyze and explore music theory and history. Please take the time with your children to listen to quality music and encourage their participation in school music programs. Music provides fun and enriching experiences that no other class or activity can replicate. I sincerely hope your students will enjoy their time here.Music impacts all of us in some way. Musical performing groups can and should be a source of both enjoyment and pride in yourself and your school.**You can't know until you try. Choose to be your best. Choose music.**Enrich your musical listening experiences! Live music performances are a great way to experience the truly emotional and exciting nature of music. After COVID restrictions are lifted, please check out http://www.whsb.org/, home of the West Hills Symphonic Band, for performance dates. The West Hills Symphonic band is comprised of local amateur, student, and professional musicians, showcasing a wide array of musical styles. Performances are free and are held at West Allegheny High School in Imperial, PA, and various outdoor venues throughout the summer.
