Welcome Students and Families!

Welcome Back Students and Parents!

  • Welcome Back Students and Families!

I'm so excited to be starting another year in 2nd Grade.  I've been with the district since 2003.  I am a graduate of Burgettstown High School and California University of PA.  I am also a local resident.  I look forward to working with each one of you. During the year, I do my best to keep my website up to date and very informative for my students and parents.  I'm setting up this page to give you some class information and answer some frequently asked questions that are asked at the beginning of the year.

    HOMEWORK:

Please check your child's homework folder and agenda each night for homework, messages, and letters from the administration, teacher, and other organizations.  All homework will be written in the agenda at the beginning of the week.  Please note that this is only a guide and due to unforeseen circumstances, it could change.

    COMMUNICATION:

I welcome communication with all of my parents/families.  Messaging me through ClassDojo is the fastest way to get a reply.  I try to check it a few times a day.  You can contact me by email at any time.  I do my best to reply to emails quickly.  You will receive a response that day, unless I am absent.  If it is something that needs addressed quickly, please call me during any of my scheduled planning times.   If I am not available due to a meeting, please leave a message, and I will return your call as soon as possible.  I try to make calls during planning or after dismissal.  Due to changes in policy, I will not friend parents or respond to messages sent through Facebook, Messenger, or via text.  Please make all contact using district email or by phone.

    BUS/TRANSPORTATION & EARLY PICK-UP:

Please write a note and send it in with your child in the morning.  Changes in buses must be approved by the transportation director.  Early pick-up notes will be sent to the office so that the secretaries are aware.  If going to a doctor or dentist, please get an excuse.

    ABSENCES

Attendance is very important to your child's educational growth.  However, illnesses happen.  When returning after an absence, please send in a parent written or doctor's excuse within 3 days, or the absence will be marked unexcused.

    SUPPLIES:

Supplies for the beginning of the school year are now required.  Students are usually in need of extra pencils and crayons.  You should have received a supply list at the end of the school year and over the summer.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.  Please send in all supplies as soon as possible.  All student supplies will be kept separate with your child's name on it.

If you would like to donated any supplies to the classroom, we are always in need of the following supplies:

Tissues          Clorox Wipes          Stickers          Pencils          Erasers

    SNACK TIKME:

Second Grade does have a snack time each day.  Please send your child a snack.  Many of the students are hungry by this time, especially as they begin to adjust to being back at school.  Due to allergies and other circumstances, snacks will not be supplied or shared.  Since mornings can be very hectic, I also allow students to bring in snacks for the week or more.  They are stored in my cupboard and only used for the child who brings them.  Many busy parents find this easier than packing one every day.

    PARENT VOLUNTEERS:

Parent volunteers are always welcome.  Please watch your child's folder for information about being on my list of parents who would like to volunteer.  Some of the things we need parents for are field trips, CHAMPS carnival, class celebrations, etc.  I will send home a form for you to fill out and return.  All volunteers are now required to have clearances.  If you already completed them, please check with the office to see that they are still current.  If you have not completed them in a previous year, I will be happy to provide you with a packet explaining what you need to do.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.  I believe good communication between parents and their child's teacher makes everything better!!  I look forward to working with all of you this year!
