• Welcome to Music at B.A.E.C!

    Teacher: Mrs. Heidi Betschart

    "Music IS for a lifetime."

Thought for the week: "When are we starting band class?" is the most asked question coming from my fourth and fifth graders right now. I LOVE this level of enthusiasm for music and instrument playing! The start of every school year brings new and unique challenges for me to overcome. Patience is a virtue, however!

    Important Announcements/Events:

The "After-School Modern Band" program will be enrolling students in grades 4 and 5 shortly. We had some great success last school year and are looking forward to continuing the music-making throughout this school year as well!

ENROLLING FOR BAND - NEW Students

If your student in grades 4 or 5 is interested in playing an instrument but has NOT had a try-out, please e-mail or DOJO me! Due to our current situation and the need to sanitize an entire instrument between try-outs, Volkwein's Music in Robinson is handling the bulk of our brass and woodwind try-outs. I am only able to try-out guitar, ukulele, piano and percussion at B.A.E.C.

For the parents...a brief summary of how our lesson program works...

There is minimal cost for a lesson book and supplies, depending on the instrument. Instrument rentals are handled through Volkwein’s Music in Robinson. Guitar, bass, ukulele, and piano instruments are best purchased through Guitar Center in Robinson or with my recommendations on Amazon.

What we teach in the BAEC instrumental music program:

Woodwind Instruments - Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone

Brass Instruments - Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Baritone/Euphonium

Percussion (snare, bass, set, mallets, accessories)

Modern Band - Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Piano, Violin

If you're interested in venturing out to see local performances, some places have new attendance procedures and policies. I have become a fan of the virtual concert over the past year. I encourage you to take the time with your students and explore some of our awesome virtual music venues and events! Facebook Live and YouTube are still the two most common places to see performances right now.
