Through partnerships with local businesses, educational organizations, and neighboring school districts, we have expanded our base of knowledge, resources, and allies in learning. We made great strides in the 2016-2017 school year towards transforming our learning spaces and instructional practices. We continue to engage our students and teachers in hands-on, minds-on learning opportunities that promote creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. To follow our efforts in S.T.E.A.M. integration, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) follow this blog!

Meet mBot... the Newest Member of our Robot Family
Posted by Mandi Figlioli on 5/18/2018Thanks to the genorosity of our partners in education, Range Resources & First Energy, we were able to add mBots to our 4th grade Math/Science curriculum.
Students worked together to assemble the mBots with screwdrivers.
Using Makeblock’s block-based programming software, students were able to simply drag and drop command blocks to program their mBot without need for coding experience. They were able to write code for their robot and see it instantly respond to their instructions as it made its way through the towns they created.

What School Could Be
Posted by Mandi Figlioli on 5/2/2018Dr. Walsh and I joined over 400 educators in Pittsburgh to hear author Ted Dintersmith talk about his journey visiting schools in each of the fifty states. In his book, What Schools Could Be, he explores the possibility for schools to remake learning by supporting innovation and empowering students to explore their passions and interests. It was truly an inspiring evening!
We were even able to get our books signed!
