Welcome Dr. Walsh!

Dr. James Walsh  
The Burgettstown Area School District Board of Education extended a three year contract to Dr. James M. Walsh as its next Superintendent at the May 11, 2015 meeting.  The Board passed a motion for Dr. Walsh’s employment by a vote of 9-0.  He will begin his tenure at Burgettstown on June 22, 2015 replacing Acting Superintendent Deborah Jackson.
Dr. Walsh is currently the Principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in the Mt. Lebanon School District where he also serves as the District-wide Curriculum Supervisor since 2008.  Prior to this assignment Dr. Walsh served the Aliquippa School District as the Director of Curriculum and Student Achievement and as a Principal in the Hopewell School District both located in Beaver County.
Dr. Walsh began his professional career teaching English, television production and theater arts at Westlake High School in Maryland and locally at Peters Township High School.  He holds degrees from Duquesne University, the University of Maryland, and Nova Southeastern University.
